Montenegro has a lot to offer walking groups. There are high mountains with deciduous forests, lakes, rivers and coastal walks along with unique wildlife in several national parks.
At MAC we can offer self guided walking tours or provide a guide, full of local knowledge, to accompany you. The length, duration and type of terrain are easily tailored to suit your needs.

Lovcen National Park
We are situated very close to this
National Park. Deciduous forests and high pastures, most of the land is
around 1000metres or above. There is good walking up there in
Summer as it is a little cooler, in fact often snow covered from December
until March. Lovcen national park is home to wild boar and wolf and huge areas of forest..very little human activity makes this park
a truly wild place even though it is directly above the coastal tourist centers. In spring and early summer the meadows are full of wild flowers, including many species of orchids.

Skadar Lake national Park One of the largest fresh water lakes in Europe,
over half of this lake is in Montenegro and the other part
belongs to Albania. Historically it was a way of smuggling all
sorts of goods across the border. This lake and much of the
shore area is part of the Skadar lake national park and wild
life is protected here.
Home to many species of wild
fowl, also pelican, osprey and marsh harrier; the lake is
incredibly shallow, most of it being less than 10 meters deep!
Surrounding the lake are large areas of reeds and water lily
which provide a home and cover for heron, bittern and reed
warblers. One of the best ways to explore these areas is by
kayak.

Biogradska and Durmitor National parks
These two large national parks
are approximately two and three hours from the coast respectively.
Normally we would either stay for two days and possible camp
overnight or a two centre holiday can be arranged. Three days on the
coastal areas and three days inland.
Biogradska is an area of high plateau and deciduous forests, great for walking or mountain bikes. This is one of the few areas of Montenegro where trails are clearly marked and easy to follow, often stunning colours in early autumn when the trees turn.

Durmitor is
higher, bigger and more rugged. The mountains here rise up to
the highest peak in Montenegro, Bobatov Kuk at 2,582 meters,
although there may be mountains slightly higher on the
Montenegro/Albania border region.
Walking in this area can be
more physical although normally we would not include any real
climbing on our routes.
